Uncooperative Female, Possibly Armed and in Crisis, Safely Arrested for Violation of a Protection Order, Obstructing, and Assault 3rd Degree
Spokane County Deputies responded to a welfare check regarding an adult female reported to be armed and in crisis. Deputies also learned the female was possibly inside the home with her 4-month-old infant, which was in violation of a served Court Order of Protection. Additionally, Civil Deputies responded to serve a valid Writ of Habeas Corpus, ordering them to bring the infant before the court to ensure his safety and determine custody. The female was uncooperative, barricaded herself inside, and refused to surrender. Crisis Negotiators were called to the location, and with Albin’s uncooperative behavior, the belief she was armed, in crisis, and coupled with information the infant was thought to be in the home and possibly in danger, SWAT was requested. Approximately three hours later, the female was safely taken into custody. The infant was unharmed and released to Child Protective Services (CPS).
On March 31, 2025, at approximately 12:00 pm, Spokane County Deputies responded to a residence in the 16000 block of N. Dalton Road for a welfare check. A family member reported that they had not had contact with the female, later identified as 38-year-old Lacey J. Albin, or her 4-month-old son for approximately 1 month. The caller further explained that Albin had recently been suffering from mental health issues and was believed to be in crisis.
Responding Deputies were familiar with the residence and Albin after they had recently attempted to serve a Writ of Habeas Corpus, but they were unable to make contact with her. They also learned Albin had been served with a Court Order of Protection preventing Albin from contacting her 4-month-old infant.
Spokane County Civil Deputies responded with the previously unserved Writ of Habeas Corpus.
Arriving Deputies observed Albin’s vehicle parked in the driveway. As they exited their fully marked patrol cars, Albin’s vehicle began beeping, appearing to be locked using a nearby key fob. Deputies knocked on the door multiple times but did not receive a response. However, a Deputy heard what he thought to be a baby inside and observed Albin peering out of a bedroom window, but she refused to speak with Deputies.
Deputies established a perimeter as Crisis Negotiators and Behavioral Health Co-Responder Units arrived to help try and develop communications and hopefully get Albin to surrender peacefully.
Deputies began the process of obtaining a search warrant and, with Albin remaining uncooperative, believed to have access to a pistol while in crisis and inside the home with her infant son, the SWAT Team was requested.
Continued attempts to coax Albin into cooperating were unsuccessful, as were PA announcements and warnings.
At approximately 3:50 pm, with a valid search warrant, SWAT breached the barricaded front door. They observed Albin and the baby, but unfortunately, her uncooperative behavior persisted. With a visual of them both, and for the safety of the infant, SWAT quickly entered the home and took Albin into custody after a short struggle where she assaulted a Deputy, kicking him in the chest. The infant, found to be uninjured, was scooped up and removed to a safe location. He was later released into Child Protective Services (CPS) custody.
Afterward, Deputies recovered and seized a Sig Sauer 9mm pistol and ammunition.
Albin was served the Writ of Habeas Corpus before being transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Assault 3rd Degree, Violation of a Court Order, and Obstructing.
