Single-Vehicle Crash, Impairment Suspected

Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported truck that had crashed into a tree and was on fire north of the intersection of N. Argonne Road and E. Wellesley Avenue.  The adult male driver, and the only occupant of the vehicle, is suspected of being impaired at the time of the collision.  He sustained serious but believed to be non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for additional care.

On March 9, 2025, Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 4900 block of N. Argonne Road for a reported truck that had crashed into a tree and caught fire.

Deputies, Spokane County Fire District 9 and Spokane Valley Firefighters arrived.  Firefighters provided medical treatment and quickly addressed the fire as Deputies began to investigate the incident and provide traffic control.

Initial information indicates the adult male driver (40) was traveling north on Argonne Road when his truck left the roadway and crashed into a tree.  The vehicle caught fire with the driver still inside.  The fire spread, burning the tree and damaging a utility pole.  A Good Samaritan driving by stopped to help and pulled the injured driver to safety.

During his investigation, a Traffic Unit Deputy gained information to indicate that the driver was impaired at the time of the crash.   He obtained a search warrant to collect a blood sample from the driver, which will be sent to the lab for testing.

Due to the driver’s need for additional medical treatment, he was not charged with DUI, but charges are expected to be filed at a later time when appropriate.
