Sheriff’s Office Receives Spirit of Blue Foundation Grant Consisting of Over $19,000 in Guardian Angel Wearable 360° High-Powered LED Safety Lights
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and Spokane Valley Police Department are grateful to receive this generous grant from the Spirit of Blue Foundation and its partnering donors. The Guardian Angel High-Powered LED Safety Lights, with their ability to provide increased visibility (up to 5+ miles away), will significantly enhance the safety of our Deputies and K9s and, by extension, the safety of our entire community, especially in low-light rural areas of Spokane County.
In October 2024, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office received official notification from the Spirit of Blue Foundation that they and partnering donors (Law Enforcement United (LEU), Sportsmen Organized for Law Enforcement (SOLE), Renee & Gordon Graham Foundation) approved a Safety Equipment Grant totaling $19,647.38.
The grant provides 131 Guardian Angel Devices Elite Series Red/Blue/IR wearable safety lights. In addition, Guardian Angel Devices graciously donated the universal mounts for all the lights to support their deployment and versatility.
The Guardian Angel Devices Elite Series wearable safety lights provide long-range (up to 5+ miles), 360° visibility from their high-powered, hands-free LED lights. These lights will provide increased safety for Deputies and K9s while working, especially in low-light areas of the City of Spokane Valley and Spokane County.
According to the National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund (NLEM) 2023 End-of-Year Preliminary Law Enforcement Officers Fatalities Report, ten law enforcement officers were killed after being struck by a vehicle while outside their patrol car during the year. Many of these fatal incidents occurred while officers were investigating motor vehicle crashes or assisting motorists on the side of the road.
We thank the Spirit of Blue Foundation, its partners, and Guardian Angel Devices for their generous donation of this much-needed safety equipment. Their willingness to join our efforts to keep our Deputies and K9s safe is greatly appreciated.
