Sheriff Nowels Welcomes Three New Deputies
Two Intermediate and One Lateral
On January 22, 2025, Spokane County Sheriff John Nowels swore in two new Intermediate Level Deputies and one new Lateral Level Deputy at the Spokane County Public Safety Building. Please help us welcome Deputy Kyle Farrell, Deputy Drew Helsper, and Deputy Timothy Jarrad to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Kyle Farrell is 37 and was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, graduating from Bothel High School in 2005. Afterward, he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Central Washington University (2011) and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Colorado State University (2020). He joins the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office as a Lateral Deputy with over ten years of experience after being previously employed at the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office (2018-present), Kirkland Police Department (2013-2018), and Douglasville Police Department, Georgia (2011-2013).
Deputy Drew Helsper is 23 and was born and raised in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He graduated from Lake City High School (2019) and previously worked for the Spokane Police Department (2023-present) before joining our agency as an Intermediate Lateral Deputy.
Deputy Timothy Jarrad is 26, born in Spokane County, raised in Lakeside, Washington, and graduated from Lakeside High School (2017). He earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice at Lakeland University, Wisconsin. He was previously employed as a patrol officer with the Colville Tribal Police Department (2022-present) before joining us as an Intermediate Lateral Deputy.
