Fatal Truck/E-Bike Crash on W. White Road
Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies and Traffic Unit Investigators responded to a fatal truck/e-bike collision on W. White Road. The adult male rider of the e-bike was pronounced deceased at the scene. The adult male driver of the truck remained at the location and cooperated with Investigators.
On March 2, 2025, at approximately 12:10 am, Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies, assisted by Airway Heights Police Officers and Washington State Patrol Troopers, responded to what was initially reported as an auto/pedestrian collision in the 11400 block of W. White Road.
Arriving Deputies learned the collision involved a Ford truck pulling a large trailer traveling southwest and an e-bike traveling northeast. The adult male rider of the e-bike was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The adult male driver of the truck involved remained at the location and cooperated with Traffic Unit Investigators. He did not exhibit signs of impairment but agreed to submit to field sobriety evaluations to confirm he was not impaired. At the conclusion, the Traffic Unit Investigator and Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) stated he did not observe any signs to indicate the driver was impaired. The driver also provided a voluntary blood draw for later testing. He was later released without charges.
From statements gained at the scene, Investigators believe that the e-bike did not have sufficient lighting as required by Washington State RCW, making it difficult, if not impossible, to be seen during the hours of darkness. It also appears the e-bike had drifted partially over the center of the roadway and into the travel lane when the collision occurred.
This remains an active investigation.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the decedent, along with his cause and manner of death, when appropriate.
