Detectives Arrest Suspect for Rape of a Child & Additional Sexual Assault Charges
Spokane County Sexual Assault Unit (SAU) Detectives are investigating the rape and sexual assault of a 15-year-old female victim. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail, charged with Rape of a Child and additional sexual assault charges.
On February 18, 2025, Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies began a sexual assault investigation where the 15-year-old female victim reported that she was sexually assaulted by the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Hussein M. Mahmoud Al Hassan.
She began communicating with Hassan on social media (Snapchat and Facebook Messenger), where he falsely represented himself as a 19-year-old male. During the chat, the victim told Hassan that she was 15 years old, but he continued to coax and persuade her, eventually promising to give the victim a vape in exchange for a kiss.
Later in the day, Hassan drove to meet the victim. She got in the car, and Hassan started to drive, saying he was just going down the street. He pulled down a side street, parked, and handed the victim a vape. Hassan became increasingly aggressive/forceful, and this quickly escalated. The victim was eventually able to get out of the car safely and walked home.
SAU Detectives continued the investigation, aided by Real Time Crime Center Analysts and Forensic Unit personnel.
Through the ongoing investigation, SAU Detectives positively identified Hassan, who is from Turkey and developed probable cause to arrest him for Rape of a Child 3rd Degree, Rape 2nd Degree, Child Molestation 3rd Degree, and Communication with a Minor for Immoral Purposes.
On February 25, 2025, SAU Detectives and Patrol Deputies contacted Hassan and took him into custody without incident. He was transported to the Public Safety Building, where he agreed to be interviewed by SAU Investigators. With a valid search warrant, SAU Detective collected a DNA sample from Hassan before he was booked into the Spokane County Jail, where he remains with a bond set at $125,000.
Hassan was also mentioned as a possible suspect in a reported sexual assault/abuse or a vulnerable female adult victim, where he is accused of using social media to groom and coax her into meeting him.
Both investigations remain active, and additional charges are possible.
