Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP)
Public Outreach Events Scheduled
SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – During the month of March, Spokane County Emergency Management (SCEM), Fire Agencies, and Community Partners will be hosting Public Outreach Events in support of the 2025 Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) update.
“The CWPP provides the strategic overview of how our Fire Agencies and partners approach wildfire mitigation efforts across all areas of Spokane County,” said Chandra Fox, CEM, Deputy Director of Emergency Management for Spokane County. “It’s a terrific partnership which includes not just our local Fire Agencies, but County and City Parks, the Conservation District, our Utilities, and of course, our primary State partner, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).”
According to Fox, Outreach Events are an essential part of the update process. “The first word in the title is Community,” noted Fox. “We want and need input from the community on these topics.”
There will be three (3) events during March, held in various locations across the County, to provide residents with multiple opportunities to engage. For each event, the primary Fire Agencies for the general area and other partners will have representatives available to answer questions and provide information on the wildfire mitigation priorities of the District/Department, as well as wildfire safety and preparedness. Attendees will also have opportunities to provide comments and feedback on their priorities and concerns.
The events are:
- Valley/Central
- Thursday, March 6, 6pm – 8pm
- CenterPlace Event Center, 2426 N Discovery Place, Spokane Valley
- North
- Saturday, March 8, 9am – 12pm
- SCFD #4, Sta. 41, 315 E Crawford St., Deer Park
- West Plains
- Wednesday, March 12, 6pm – 8pm
