Suspect Rams Deputy’s Vehicle, Hits a Fence, a Parked Truck, and Flees

Suspect Later Arrested after Crashing into another Vehicle

Spokane Valley Deputies pursued a driver with felony and misdemeanor warrants, in addition to a previous eluding charge, after she rammed the Deputy’s fully marked patrol car.  She crashed through a fence, which damaged an unoccupied parked truck, and hit a pole holding up a porch roof as she fled, initiating a pursuit.  Due to the suspect’s speed and reckless behavior, they lost sight of the Nissan, eventually locating it after she crashed into a motorist on N. Argonne at E. Euclid.  Thankfully, no one was injured due to the suspect’s careless actions, which showed a complete lack of concern for the safety of unsuspecting motorists, herself, and Deputies.  The suspect was booked into jail on several felony and misdemeanor charges, including DUI.

On October 29, 2024, at approximately 11:00 pm, a Spokane Valley Deputy attempted to locate a suspect who fled from another Deputy while driving a gray Nissan Maxima on October 25, 2024.

The Deputy knew probable cause had been established for the driver, 18-year-old Ella N. Villareal, for Attempting to Elude a Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputy on October 25, 2024, at approximately 6:00 pm. in the 900 block of E. Francis.  At that time, since Villareal had been identified and due to her reckless attempt to flee, the Deputy made the decision not to pursue her in heavy traffic for the safety of the public, despite knowing Villareal had an active Idaho felony warrant and a local misdemeanor warrant.

(October 29, 2024) The Spokane Valley Deputy, following up on this previous incident, began checking a possible location where Villareal was known to frequent and requested additional patrol units to assist.

The Deputy located the gray Nissan driven by Villareal on October 25th, parked in front of a garage in the 7100 block of E. Pacific.  The vehicle was running with its lights on, and a person was in the driver’s seat.   The Deputy confirmed the license plate but could not tell if Villareal was the driver due to the window tint.

The Deputy waited to approach until additional Deputies were in the area.  With assistance, the Deputy activated the emergency lights of his fully marked patrol vehicle and pulled in directly behind the Nissan.  Suddenly, the driver, later identified as Villareal, put the Nissan in reverse and accelerated into the PIT bumper of the Deputy’s vehicle.  The Deputy exited his car, drew his handgun, and gave commands while moving back to escape injury.  Villareal continued to rev the engine and hit the Deputy’s vehicle and property in front of the Nissan as she worked to escape.

Finally, she moved the patrol vehicle far enough to clear the garage and fled through a fence and yard. Villareal then drove west on E. 2nd Avenue, but the Deputy did not continue to follow.  He checked his patrol car for damage, but thankfully, the PIT bumper and guard took most of the force, causing minimal damage.

Another Deputy in the area observed the Nissan traveling south on Carnahan and turned around, activating his emergency lights, as Villareal turned west on 8th Avenue.  Villareal passed cars on the left, driving into oncoming lanes as she accelerated, and ran a stop sign at Havana Street.  Not willing to drive recklessly and at Villareal’s high speeds, the Deputy decided to try to safely maintain a visual while updating other patrol units in the area.

Villareal continued driving at high speeds as additional Deputies tried to get into position to deploy spike strips.  Deputies could see the Nissan in the distance as it ran the red light at Argonne and turned north, where they lost sight.

Deputies soon located the suspect’s vehicle, which had crashed into an uninvolved van just north of the intersection.  They converged and safely took Villareal into custody.

Deputies also contacted the driver of the van, who was not injured.

Observing a white crystalline substance, believed to be methamphetamine, in a baggie between the driver’s seat and door of Villareal’s car, in combination with other indicators, Deputies believed Villareal was Driving While Impaired.  They obtained a search warrant to collect a blood sample from Villareal for later testing.   Her Nissan was seized pending a search warrant and additional investigation.

Villareal was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Assault 2nd Degree and Attempt to Elude Law Enforcement (2 counts), all felonies.  She was also booked on misdemeanor charges of Hit-and-Run: Property Damage, DUI, Driving While Suspended, and a misdemeanor warrant (Making False Statements).  Additionally, she was booked as a Fugitive on her felony Idaho warrant (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), pending extradition.
