Vehicle/Motorcycle Fatal Crash on S. Spotted Road at W. Melville Road

Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a vehicle/motorcycle crash on S. Spotted Road at W. Melville Road, northwest of the Town of Marshall.  Traffic Unit Investigators are investigating this deadly collision.

On September 2, 2024, at approximately 4:25 pm, Spokane County Deputies responded to a reported vehicle/motorcycle crash at the intersection of S. Spotted Road and W. Melville Road.

Spokane County Fire District 3 firefighters arrived and provided medical aid to the adult male motorcycle rider.  He was transported to the hospital, where, unfortunately, he was later pronounced deceased.

Deputies began an investigation and requested the assistance of Traffic Unit Investigators due to the severity of the collision.

Initial information indicates the adult female driver of a Nissan Sentra was traveling south on S. Spotted Road with a juvenile female passenger.  She attempted to turn left (east) on W. Melville Road, across the northbound lane of travel and in front of a northbound motorcycle.  The adult male motorcycle rider attempted to brake to avoid colliding with the Nissan but was unsuccessful and collided with the passenger’s side of the vehicle.

The motorcycle rider sustained life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased at a hospital.

The driver and her passenger of the vehicle were reported to be physically uninjured beyond cuts/scrapes.

At this time, failure to yield the right of way appears to be a contributing factor in this fatal crash.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased driver, along with his cause and manner of death, when appropriate.
