One-Vehicle Fatal Crash on N. Madison Road
Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a one-vehicle fatal crash on N. Madison Road near E. Madison Branch Road, northeast of Colbert. Traffic Unit Investigators are investigating this deadly crash.
On September 2, 2024, at approximately 10:20 am, Spokane County Deputies responded to a reported one-vehicle crash and fire in the 22200 block of N. Madison Road.
Arriving Deputies observed Spokane County Fire District 4 and Spokane County Fire District 9 attending to a brush fire and a heavily damaged truck off the roadway.
The truck was heavily damaged, and one person (driver) was located inside the vehicle, deceased.
Due to the severity of this crash, Traffic Unit Investigators were called to the scene.
Initial information indicates the juvenile male driver was traveling south on N. Madison Road at a speed believed to be too fast for the roadway. The driver and sole occupant lost control, failed to negotiate the corner, overcorrected, went off the road, and struck a tree, causing extensive damage to the truck and a fire. The fire quickly spread into the surrounding brush.
SCFD 4 and SCFD 9 firefighters extinguished the flames as Deputies began the crash investigation.
At this time, speed and inexperience are believed to be contributing factors in this fatal crash.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased driver, along with his cause and manner of death, when appropriate.
