Traffic Unit Investigates One-Vehicle Fatal Crash East of Elk
Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a one-vehicle fatal crash on E. Nelson Road, west of N. Jackson Road. Traffic Unit Investigators responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.
On August 26, 2024, at approximately 2:15 pm, Spokane County Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle that left the roadway and hit a tree.
Initial information indicates the driver of a Subaru was traveling west on E. Nelson Road, approaching a curve in the 15000 block. He failed to negotiate the corner, left the roadway, hit a rock, and crashed into a tree.
Spokane County Fire District 4 arrived and provided emergency life-saving aid, but unfortunately, the adult male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Traffic Unit members responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased driver, along with his cause and manner of death, when appropriate.
At this time in the investigation, speed, and failure to properly wear a seat belt are believed to be contributing factors in this fatal crash.
