SCIU Detectives Arrest Muti-Time Convicted Felon for Burglary
Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Investigative Unit (SCIU) Detectives, with the assistance of the SWAT Team, served search warrants at locations in connection with an ongoing burglary/property theft investigation. The primary suspect was identified and arrested on August 15, 2024.

On August 10, 2024, at approximately 10:10 am, Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the report of a burglary in the 7600 block of N. Altamont Street.
Deputies contacted the caller, who explained she was watching the residence for a family member who was on vacation. She checked the home on the evening of August 9, 2024, and everything was secure. When she returned on August 10, 2024, she found the back door damaged, the home appeared to be ransacked, and items were missing.
According to security video, two suspects arrived at the home on August 10, 2024, at approximately 4:55 am in a white truck with a metal equipment rack in the bed. The two suspects were wearing masks, but Deputies were able to obtain a description of the suspect and a closeup of one suspect’s face when he disabled a camera with a crowbar.
The suspects reportedly stole several items, including a three-foot sword, tools, replica guns, and two long guns, while causing approximately $500 in damage to the door/lock. The total estimated loss/damage of property was over $9,000.
On August 13, 2024, a second Deputy, responding to two additional calls for service in the same general area, located a white 1993 Nissan truck that appeared to match the truck used in the burglary on August 10, 2024. The Deputy obtained a search warrant to seize the Nissan as evidence, and the investigation was turned over to SCIU Detectives.
SCIU Investigators reviewed all the evidence collected and obtained a search warrant for the recovered Nissan truck. Detectives located several pieces of evidence, including Spokane County Superior Court bond paperwork for the suspect, identified as 48-year-old Harry L. Autrey.
Investigators located a Flock image of the suspect vehicle. Detectives also learned that law enforcement had recently had contact with the Nissan (July 1, 2024, and June 15, 2024), and Autrey was identified as the driver both times.
A criminal history check for Autrey showed 55 arrests, 5 felony convictions, and 22 misdemeanor convictions from 1992 through 2023. His felony convictions were for Possessing Stolen Property 3rd Degree (5/2023), two counts of Theft with Extenuating Circumstances (8/2016), Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement (1/2006), Theft 2nd Degree (10/1994), and Trafficking in Stolen Property (10/1992).
Through the investigation, SCIU Detectives developed probable cause to arrest Autrey for several charges, including Burglary 1st Degree.
While serving a search warrant on August 15, 2024, in the 11000 block of N. Market, Detectives learned of Autrey’s location and arrested him near N Perry St. and E Marietta Ave.
He was booked into the Spokane County Jail for Burglary 1st Degree, where he remains on a $100,000 bond set by Spokane County Superior Court Commissioner E. Cruz.
This remains an active investigation, and additional arrests/charges are expected.
