Traffic Unit Investigates One-Vehicle Fatal Crash in North Spokane County
Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a one-vehicle fatal crash in a field near the intersection of E. Westmoreland Road and N. Perry Road in North Spokane County. Traffic Unit Investigators responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.
On August 19, 2024, at approximately 5:30 am, Spokane County Deputies responded to a report of a silver BMW in a field southwest of Westmoreland Road and Perry Road. The caller updated the information, stating that a male was lying in the field approximately 25-30 yards from the vehicle.
Deputies and Spokane County Fire District 4 personnel arrived and located the adult male, who was pronounced deceased. Spokane County Sheriff’s Traffic Investigators responded to conduct the investigation.
Initial information indicates the BMW was traveling south on Perry Road at a high rate of speed. It ran the stop sign at E. Westmoreland Road, left the roadway, went into the field southwest of the intersection, and rolled several times, ejecting the driver, who was not wearing a seat belt.
The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased driver, along with his cause and manner of death, when appropriate.
At this time in the investigation, speed and failure to wear a seat belt are contributing factors in this fatal crash.
