Sheriff Nowels Welcomes New Lateral Deputy

On July 1, 2024, Spokane County Sheriff John Nowels swore in a new Lateral Deputy at the Public Safety Building.  Please help us welcome Deputy Jonathan Custer to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and our community.            

Deputy Jonathan Custer is 29 years old and grew up in Tehachapi, CA., where he graduated from Monroe High School in 2012.  He began his law enforcement career in 2018 with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.  After approximately three years, he joined the Yerka Police Department (Yreka, CA), serving as a Patrol Officer since 2021.
