Deputies Stop Vehicle After Receiving an ALPR Alert Regarding a Felony Warrant
Two Occupants Arrested on Valid Warrants, Possession of Controlled Substance
Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies located a white Cadillac after being advised of a Reat-Time Crime Center (RTCC) Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) Alert regarding a person with a Felony Assault warrant. During a traffic stop, Deputies found that both occupants in the vehicle had valid warrants for their arrest.
On February 14, 2025, at approximately 12:36 am, a Spokane Regional Emergency Communications (SREC) Communications Officer advised Deputies of an RTCC ALPR Alert regarding the registered owner of a white Cadillac, 47-year-old Crandall Solomon, who had a felony assault 3rd degree warrant for his arrest.
From previous contacts with Solomon, Deputies were aware that he’s been known to be armed and illegally possess controlled substances.
The Cadillac was observed pulling into a parking lot, 12500 block of W. Sunset Hwy., and they conducted a traffic stop to determine if Solomon was in the car.
Deputies observed the two occupants moving around, possibly attempting to conceal items or access a weapon, but due to the window tint, they could not tell exactly what the occupants were doing.
With safety concerns, the Deputies commanded the driver to show his hands and exit the vehicle. As he did, a large knife was observed protruding from his waistband. The driver, later identified as 44-year-old Tony G. Welch, advised that Solomon was in the passenger’s seat. Welch complied with commands and was safely detained.
Deputies safely detained Solomon and confirmed his felony arrest warrant for Assault 3rd Degree.
A check of Welch’s name revealed he had an active misdemeanor arrest warrant for Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree.
Solomon and Welch were informed they were under arrest for their warrants and searched, where Deputies found both to be in illegal possession of a controlled substance. (suspected Methamphetamine, possibly mixed with Fentanyl)
Solomon was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for his felony Assault 3rd Degree warrant, and he was issued a criminal citation for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Welch was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for his misdemeanor Criminal Trespass warrant and a new charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance.
