Deputies Locate and Arrest Suspected Burglar
Find Active Warrants for Suspect’s Arrest, Burglary Tools, and Drugs

Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported burglary in progress and located a male at the closed business.   Through the subsequent investigation, Deputies developed probable cause to charge the suspect with Burglary 2nd Degree, Possession of Burglary Tools, Theft 3rd Degree, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Additionally, the suspect had two valid misdemeanor warrants for his arrest.

On October 13, 2024, at approximately 3:50 am, Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a reported burglary.  The caller and manager of Westside Motor Sports, 4201 S. Grove Road, advised that he observed an unknown male on security video inside the fenced property of the closed business.

Deputies arrived and contacted the male suspect, identified as 38-year-old Allen K. York Jr., and detained him without incident.

After being advised of his rights, York agreed to answer questions. York admitted to being inside the fenced area of the business and attempting to take some brackets and other items.

A check of York’s name revealed two valid misdemeanor warrants (Assault 4th Degree) for his arrest.  Deputies told York he was under arrest for the warrants and conducted a search, locating tools and a lock pick set in his pockets.  They also seized a black container that contained baggies with a white substance, believed to be Methamphetamine, inside.  A test of the substance later showed a presumptive positive result for Methamphetamine.

The caller arrived and explained that the business had been a victim of prior break-ins and that he wanted to pursue charges.

York was transported and booked into the Spokane County Jail for Burglary 2nd Degree, Possession of Burglary Tools, Theft 3rd Degree, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, in addition to his misdemeanor warrants.

On October 14, 2024, York appeared in Spokane County Superior Court for his first appearance hearing, where Superior Court Commissioner N. Swennumson ordered him to be released on his own recognizance.
