Major Crimes Detectives Investigate Early Morning Fatal Shooting

Spokane County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early this morning in the 8800 block of E. Trent Avenue.   The suspect immediately fled the scene and has not been located yet.  The adult male victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.  

Based on the initial information gained at this early stage of the investigation, Detectives do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public due to this incident. 

On October 12, 2024, at approximately 6:15 am, Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies and Spokane Valley Deputies responded to a reported shooting in the 8800 block of E. Trent Avenue.  Several callers reported hearing gunshots, seeing a victim lying on the ground, and that a possible suspect fled the scene.

Arriving Deputies located an adult male victim and immediately began life-saving efforts, including CPR, until they were relieved by Spokane County and Spokane Valley Firefighters.  Unfortunately, despite everyone’s efforts to save the man’s life, a short time later, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.  

Major Crimes Detectives and Spokane County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Unit personnel responded to the location and are in the early stages of this investigation.   

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the decedent, along with his cause and manner of death, at a later time, when appropriate.

As this investigation is in its early stages, no further information is available at this time.
