Undersheriff Michael Kittilstved Welcomes New Deputies 

1 Entry-Level Deputy and 2 Lateral Deputies

 

On October 7, 2024, Spokane County Undersheriff Michael Kittilstved swore in one new Entry-Level Deputy and two Lateral Deputies at the Public Safety Building.  Please help us welcome Deputy Dustin Hansberry, Deputy Ryan Brown, and Deputy Christopher (CJ) Smith to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.            

 

Deputy Dustin Hansberry is 22 years old and an entry-level hire.  He was born in Bellevue, WA, and grew up in Cle Elum, graduating from Cle Elum Roslyn High School in 2021.  He is attending Calvary Chapel University, where he plans to graduate this year and obtain his degree.  

 

Deputy Ryan Brown is 37 years old and a lateral hire.  He was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, and attended Los Angeles Baptist High School, graduating in 2005.  Deputy Brown began his law enforcement career with the Idaho State Department of Corrections for one year before serving with the Grangeville Police Department for two years.  The Post Falls Police Department hired him in 2022, where he served as a Police Officer until joining our agency.  

 

Deputy Christopher (CJ) Smith is 27 years old and a lateral hire. He graduated from Coupeville High School in 2016 and continued his education at Green River College, where he earned an AA degree. He previously served as a Police Officer with the Mercer Island Police Department for four years before joining our agency.
